50th Anniversary of Lao PDR: MOFA UM attended the reception

A reception to mark the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Myanmar and Laos was held at Pan Pacific Hotel in Yangon in the evening on December 2.

Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe attended the ceremony. First, Ambassador of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Myanmar. Mr. Bounphieng CHANTHAVONG, his wife, and officials warmly welcomed and greeted Union Minister U Than Swe and guests attending the reception.

Subsequently, the ceremony was opened with the national anthems of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Ambassador of the Lao PDR to Myanmar Mr. Bounphieng CHANTHAVONG delivered a welcome address, followed by a congratulatory speech by Union Minister U Than Swe.

Then, the Union Minister and the Ambassador of the Lao PDR to Myanmar jointly cut the commemorative cake for the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of the Lao PDR and the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Myanmar and Laos.

They also took a group photo with the guests attending the reception. Afterwards, the Ambassador of the Lao PDR hosted a dinner for the guests attending the reception. The reception was attended by Member of the State Security and Peace Commission and Chief of General Staff  (Army, Navy, Air) General Kyaw Swar Lin and wife, Union Minister for Labour U Aung Kyaw Hoe, Union Minister for Commerce U Chit Swe, Union Minister for Education Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Commander of Yangon Command and wife, Mayor of Yangon City, Ambassadors, Chargé d'Affaires, UN Resident Representatives from foreign embassies in Yangon, and invited guests. Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe received Dr. Md. Monwar Hossain, Ambassador of Bangladesh at the Pan Wah Guest House in Yangon on 2 December 2025. During the meeting, they exchanged views on matters pertaining to the further advancement of bilateral relations and cooperation in areas of common interest.
