








To conserve natural environment, to support the climate, to get shade and to provide the state’s economy on the other hand, families of the office of Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) have organized collective monsoon tree planting ceremonies annually since 2011.
On 7th September, families of the office of Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) held the 4th Monsoon Tree Planting Ceremony near Yezin dam in Nay Pyi Taw Zeyathiri Township. Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the ceremony and planted teak sapling.
At the event, the Senior General said that trees and forests have a lot of effects on the ecosystem and habitat of living things. The trees and forests were used in successive eras for improving socio-economic life and it needs to re-plant.
By doing replanting, socio-economic development of the people, natural environment and ecosystem will harmonize. Climate change will be faced due to exceeding in exploitation. It has been found that the forest coverage has decreased to about 42 percent as timbers have been extracted and sold for the country's income in successive periods.
The Senior General added that it needs to conserve forests and trees in rural areas and the people living in urban areas are urged to carry out greening of their environs as a national duty. He reiterated that the Commander-in-Chief (Army) has organized annually tree planting ceremonies since 2011 and a total of 190,473 trees were planted until the 3rd Monsoon Tree Planting Ceremony and it was found that 109,885 plants were grown, accounting for only about 55 percent.
In the 4th Monsoon Tree Planting ceremony, a total of 3,528 teak, Manjansha and gumkino trees will be planted ant they are needed to be thrived. He also called on planting trees in order to remedy the global warming, conserving forests and nurturing the trees starting from the time of planting to thriving. After that the Senior General and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla planted teak sapling.
The senior officials and wives, military officers, other ranks and families also planted saplings at the designated places. The Senior General and wife and party then viewed around planting trees by officers, other ranks and families.
In the ceremony, 1,764 teaks, 882 Manjansha, 882 gumgikos, totaling 3,528 saplings were planted. Families of the Office of Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) have organized tree planting ceremonies for 39 times from 2011 to 2023 and a total of over 194,000 of teak, perennial and shady trees were planted. Similarly, the monsoon tree planting ceremonies were held at the respective military commands and Commanders and officials planted saplings. It is learnt that as a whole, Tatmadaw planted a total of 175,674 saplings on Thursday.
