42nd ASEANAPOL Conference: SAC member MOHA UM formally opened the conference

The opening ceremony of 42nd ASEANAPOL Conference was held at Jade Hall of Myanmar International Convention Center (1) in Nay Pyi Taw on 22nd October and the honorary guest member of State Administration Council Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen. Yar Pyae attended and opened the conference.

The opening ceremony was attended by special guest Chairman of INTERPOL Mr. Ahmed Naser AI-Raisi, Chief of Police Forces of ASEAN member countries, High ranking police officers, their wives, delegation members, delegations of Dialogue Partners such as Russian Federation, Australia, China, INTERPOL and ASEAN Secretariat and Observers including Temor-Leste, ICRC and UAE, diplomats from ASEAN countries and invited guests.

Prior to the opening ceremony, INTERPOL Chairman and delegation leaders paid a courtesy call to the honorary guest member of State Administration Council Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen. Yar Pyae at Room No (2004) of MICC-1. The opening ceremony of the conference was held from 8:20 AM to 9:35 AM, beginning with the entrance of the flag-bearing team, followed by the performances showcasing Myanmar cultural dances.

The national anthem of Myanmar and the ASEAN Police anthem were performed to pay tribute. A prayer was offered for the fallen officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, followed by a one-minute moment of silence in their honor.

The Chief of the Myanmar Police Force delivered a welcome speech. The ASEAN Police Day celebration was then officially launched. A video presentation highlighted the achievements of the ASEAN Police Force from its establishment in 1981 to the present.

A special guest delivered a keynote address, and the honorary guest formally opened the 42nd ASEAN Police Conference. After that, a group photo was taken to mark the occasion, and the opening ceremony concluded. As the first day of the conference, the first plenary session, a forum on ASEAN delegation leaders, a forum on ASEAN Dialogue Partner delegation leaders, and meetings of Commission A, B, and C, focusing were held simultaneously.

Commission A and B meetings will focus on Illicit Drug Trafficking, Terrorism, Arms Smuggling, Trafficking in Person, Wildlife Crime, Maritime Fraud, Commercial Crimes,Bank Offences and Credit Card Fraud, Cybercrime, Fraudulent Travel Document and Transnational Fraud and at the Commission C meeting, Electronic Database System to be utilized among the ASEAN member countries, mutual assistance on crime cases, mutual training exchange among ASEAN Police Forces and establishment of ASEAN Police Forces Criminal Science Network will be discussed and the subjects discussed by the commissions will be collected and compiled a draft join-statement. Then, the wives of guests visited Uppadasanti pagoda and National Museum in Nay Pyi Taw and observed there.
