42nd AMEM: Myanmar delegation attends the meetings in Laos

Lao PDR is hosting the 42nd ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and Associated Meetings from September 26th to 27th.

A delegation led by the Myanmar Ambassador to Laos attended the meeting on behalf of the Union Minister for Energy. During the meeting, discussions on completion of ASEAN Plan of Actions for Energy Cooperation - APAEC Phase II (2021-2025) and future plans have been made.

The attendees cordially discussed on promotion of electricity network including underwater power grids among member countries including natural gas pipe line network and construction of liquefied natural gas terminal, energy saving and effective utilization, urban nuclear energy technology and development of basic infrastructure.

Then, Joint Ministerial Statement of 42nd AMEM and Joint Ministerial Statement of 21st AMEM+3 was adopted.

Subsequently, 21stASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting+3, 18th ASEAN-South East Asian Countries Ministers on Energy Meeting and the meetings of ASEAN Energy Ministers and International Energy Agency were held, with coordination upon working processes relating energy sharing among the regions, reducing carbon emitting and utilizing clean energy. Along with AMEM, 24th ASEAN Energy Business Forum and ceremony on presentation of trophy were held and the 8th ASEAN Energy Outlook was adopted.
