Four people have been killed and 23 others remain missing after a devastating mudslide hit Guza Town in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of southwest China’s Sichuan Province early Saturday, said the prefecture’s governor on Sunday.
The collapse of the bridge between the two expressway tunnels caused four vehicles to fall into the river, with one individual rescued and hospitalized, while 10 others were among the missing, said the search and rescue headquarters at the scene.
Local authorities have organized a full-scale search and rescue operation since the disaster. The evacuation and resettlement of 939 affected residents have been completed. Hundreds of engineering vehicles and search and rescue equipment, including a light helicopter, a drone and three sniffer dogs, are put into the search and rescue mission.
