The Artemis 2 is scheduled to launch as early as April 1, marking the first crewed mission toward the Moon in more than five decades. The mission, part of the Artemis program, will last about 10 days and involve a loop around the Moon without landing.
Four astronauts will take part in the flight. The mission follows Artemis 1, which completed a similar trajectory without a crew. Originally planned for an earlier launch, the mission was delayed due to technical issues that required further analysis and repairs.
The programme aims to develop technologies and capabilities needed for future human missions beyond the Moon. It also represents the first crewed lunar mission since the Apollo program ended in 1972.
