3rd Bovine Beauty Pageant: Celebrating livestock excellence

The 3rd Bovine Beauty Pageant commenced on Saturday at Pyin Ma Pin Livestock Farm in Mingaladon Township of Yangon Region.

The event aims to promote domestic dairy cattle, goats, and sheep farming by facilitating the exchange of breeding techniques among breeders. Additionally, it seeks to showcase the beauty and livestock production while contributing to the economic development of rural animal husbandry. The event also aims to raise awareness about the value and behavior of livestock animals.

Director, Livestock Breeding & Veterinary Department, Dr. Aung Myint Han, said " Today ceremony is held with the aims to acknowledge the public on livestock breeding, to produce quality bullocks and goats for value-added products, to expand production network of the breeders and to ensure the development of livestock breeding sector. We formed 10 sub-committees for competition and 7 categories will be included. Altogether 107 cows and 38 goats from 16 townships participate in the competition."

Livestock farms from 16 townships are actively participating in seven categories of the event, and prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third-place winners, along with consolidation prizes, with the amount ranging from 500,000, 400,000 and 300,000 kyats respectively.

Managing Director, Universal Diamond Company, Kyaw Thu Sein ,said " Our company has been distributing milk and dairy products for 7 years. The company gained FDA approval, company licenses issued by Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department and other related certificates. We get raw materials from our dairy farms in Mandalay and Kyaukse. Besides, our company is making efforts to construct dairy farms in Yangon."

Jointly organized by the Department of Livestock Breeding and Veterinary of the Yangon Region Government, the event serves as a commemoration of the 77th Union Day anniversary.
