3rd ASEAN Women Leaders’ Summit: MSWRR Union Minister joins the summit

Laos hosted the 3rd ASEAN Women Leaders’ Summit via video conferencing on Friday. Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement DrSoe Win joined the summit.

Laotian Prime Minister SonexaySiphandone and officials made opening speeches. During the Plenary Session, the panelists exchanged views on the summit theme “Strengthening Care Economy and Resilience Towards ASEAN Community Post-2025”.

Union Minister DrSoe Win highlighted the ministry’s implementation for welfare of women, children and senior citizens as well as persons with disabilities, in line with the National Level Social Protection Strategic Plan that has been laid down in 2014.

He also added that Child Protection Policy is being drafted to protect children in conflict areas and in time of disaster, while the Strategic Plan (2022-2027) is being implemented for persons with disabilities.

The meeting ended with a closing remark by the Laotian Prime Minister. During the summit, the Care Economy Award was presented to the Social Welfare Department under the ministry for its implementation for social protection works.
