32nd SEA Games: Myanmar sports contingents arrived back home

Myanmar sports contingents who participated in the 32nd SEA Games hosted by Cambodia from the 5th to 17th May arrived back home on Wednesday. 

Yangon Region Chief Minister U SoeThein, the regional ministers, officials of Sports and Physical Education Department and the people warmly welcomed them at the Yangon International Airport. The silver and bronze medalists from the SepakTakraw competitions, the National Women’s football team who won silver medal, bronze medalists of Taekwando competitions and the National men’s football team arrived back from Cambodia SEA Games.

Khin Malar Tun, Captain, Myanmar Women's National Football Team, said "Since the group match events, we played against the powerful and strongest teams, Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia. We were worried about playing against these teams to reach the final but all of us very tried hard with strong determination that we must achieve and win in all group-events.

We reached the final with very strong hard. Myanmar audience and fans gave a big support as well as the Myanmar Football Federation. In the final, we were not able to grab the championship and were satisfied with only the second prize. For that, on behalf of my team, I’d like to apologize our audience. I’d like to say…we will try hard a lot to gain the gold medal that is the expectation of our fans, in the next games."  

In the Women’s Football final match, Myanmar Women's football teamlost Vietnam 0-2 and was satisfied with a silver medal. Myanmar ranked 8 with 21 gold, 25 silver and 68 bronze medals, totaling 114 at the 32nd SEA Games hosted by Cambodia.
