30 houses burned on White Stone Island in Manila

Fire destroyed 30 houses in Isla Puting Bato, Manila early Thursday morning and left around 300 people homeless, the Bureau of Fire Protection said.

Authorities said the fire quickly intensified, reaching the first alarm at 2:15 a.m. and the fifth alarm in just six minutes.

The houses that were damaged are made from light materials. More than 50 fire trucks and two fire boats responded to the incident. Firefighters battled the blaze for at least two hours. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
