3 killed in shooting ahead of World Cup kick off in Auckland

At least two people and an armed attacker were killed and six others, including a police officer, wounded in a shooting in New Zealand's largest city of Auckland on Thursday.

The incident took place hours ahead of the opening match of the FIFA Women's World Cup. Two people, plus the shooter, were dead and six wounded. New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins said that the tournament would go ahead as planned.
