247 extra flights added for holiday season in Thailand

Six airlines from Thailand will add 247 flights between December 26th and January 5th to accommodate travellers during the upcoming New Year festival, and the public is encouraged to book tickets in advance, the Thai Transport Minister announced.

The additional flights and larger aircrafts will provide 73,388 more seats, to meet high demand during the holidays, the Minister said. This move aims to address the issue of expensive airfares and bookings became available from yesterday, including affordable ticket options.

He added that relevant authorities have been advised plan ahead to handle the large number of travellers. Passengers are advised to allow extra time to reach the airport, as traffic congestion is expected during the holiday period.
