2024 Olympics: dismayed Paris booksellers watch their 'boxes' removed

For preparation measures for 2024 Olympic in Paris, the antique book boxes of Parisian booksellers, hanging 3-metre from the ground at the banks of the Seine River were removed by a large lorry crane.

Workers from Paris city council took apart four of the Capital's iconic book boxes on Friday night, as a feasibility test ahead of the Olympic Games.

For safety reasons, the Paris Prefecture of Police is calling for take apart of nearly 600 of the 900 boxes before the Olympic opening ceremony on 26 July 2024, which will take place on the river.
