1st meeting of 9th SCWCS: The 9th SCWCS held its first meeting

The first Meeting of the 9th State Central Working Committee of the Sangha was held at the Sixth Buddhist Synod Maha Pasana Cave in the Siri Mingalar Kabar Aye hill, Mayangon Township, Yangon Region on March 4.

The meeting was presided over by the Chairman Sayadaw of the State Central Working Committee of the Sangha, Dr. Bhaddanta Candimābhivaṃsa  and the Joint-Secretary Sayadaw Bhaddanta Sīhanāda acted as the master of ceremonies.  

The master of ceremonies announced the commencement of the meeting and read out the number of attending members of the State Central Working Committee of the Sangh, declaring the meeting successful. Following this, the Secretary of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, Bhaddanta Vāsetthābhivaṃsa, presented the list of newly elected members of the 9th State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee.

The presiding Sayadaw confirmed the list, and the morning session of the meeting was adjourned. At 1 PM, the meeting of the State Central Working Committee of the Sangh resumed. The presiding Sayadaw proposed the list of the 9th State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee's Vice-Chairmen and Joint- Secretaries by reading out, and sought the approval.  Subsequently, the Chair of the State Central Working Committee of the Sangh, Dr. Bhaddanta Candimābhivaṃsa, presented certificates to 26 members of the State Vinaya Adjudication Committee and the State Sangha Vinicchaya Committee.

Additionally, recognition certificates were awarded to 23 members of the Government Dhammacariya, Pali Pathamabyan, Nikaya, Abhidhamma, and Vissuddhimagga Central Education Committee. Recognition certificates were also presented to the Dhamma Duta Buddhist University, Shan State Buddhist University, and Pan-Ta-Pwint Taung Buddhist Missionary University, recognized by the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee as the Buddhist universities. A total of 15 Ovadacariya Sayadaws and representatives from all Buddhist Gana signed the approvals for substitute election, decisions, approvals and records adopted at the meeting.

The Chair of the State Central Working Committee of the Sangh, Dr. Bhaddanta Candimābhivaṃsa, delivered the concluding address, which was attentively received by the attending Sayadaws. Today's alms offering to the attending Sayadaws was made by Senior General Than Shwe (retired), wife Daw Kyaing Kyaing, family, and Dhamma friends, who served as the day's alms donors.
