19th Plenary Meeting: 8th 47-member SSMNC held 19th meeting

The first-day session of the nineteenth plenary meeting of the 8th 47-member State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee was organized at Vijaya Mangala Dhamma Thabin of Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Hill in Yangon on February 27.

The meeting was attended by members of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee led by Chairman Sayadaw Dr. Bhaddanta Cantimabhivamsa, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin, the director-general of Religious Affairs Department and other officials of departments concerned.

Prior to the meeting, the Union Minister offered the donation items to the embers of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee led by Chairman Sayadaw. State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chairman Dr. Bhaddanta Cantimabhivamsa presided over the meeting and Joint Secretary Sayadaw Bhaddanta Pannadhaja acted as the master of ceremonies. The State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chairman Sayadaw recited Saraniya Ovada Katha to start the meeting.

Then, Union Minister U Tin Oo Lwin presented matters related to religious affairs. Then, Joint Secretary Sayadaw Bhadanta Indacariya reported on the activities of the first sub-committee of the eighth Sangha Maha Nayaka conducted during the sixth term and other Sayadaws also presented from respective sectors. The Sayadaws also discussed Vinicchaya and religious affairs and concluded the first session.

During the second session, the Sayadaws discussed Vinicchaya and religious-related matters and adjourned the event. The Senior General Than Shwe (Retd), wife Daw Kyaing Kyaing and family offered the first meal and the day meal to the Sayadaws attended the meeting.
