19th Annual General Meeting: MWAF organizes 2-day Annual General Meeting

The 19th Annual General Meeting of Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation (MWAF) was launched at the MWAF Headquarters in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday with an attendance of honourary Patron of Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the SAC Chairman Prime Minister.

Also present were honourary patrons Daw Khin Thet Htay and Daw Than Than Nwe, the Chairman of Myanmar National Committee for Women Affairs (MNCWA), Union Minister Dr Thet Thet khine and concerned officials.

At the event, Union  Minister Dr Thet Thet Khine said that Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation is actively participating as the member in the MNCWA and taking part in the activities of the Women Affairs Committees formed by Nay Pyi Taw Council and respective Regions, States, Districts and townships to effectively carry out the work mechanisms of MNCWA.

The National Strategic Plan for Advancement of Women (2013-2022) (NSPAW) Phase 1 processes such as women and education, health, economy, media, natural environment, violence against women and workings for women in emergency situations and conflict areas are being carried out and it is cooperating with Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation for implementing the tasks.

The NSPAW (2023-2032) Phase 2 will be drafted and implemented. The Union Minister urged non-governmental organizations to participate in implementation of social welfare activities, including ASEAN-related activities for the development of women together with MNCWA as the role of non-governmental organizations that are members of the committee is very important.

Later, a documentary video on rural women development that was implemented by MWAF were shown. It was followed by prize awarding program for rural women development project and villages. Honourary Patron Daw Kyu Kyu Hla presented awards to representatives from 1st winning prize Shan State, 2nd Winning Prize Magway Region, 3rd winning prize Yangon Region and Special Prize winning Chin State and Bago region in the best coverage and performance.

Honourary Patrons Daw Khin Thet Htay and Daw Than Than Nwe also presented prizes to respective winning regions and states in the best coverage and the best performance, respectively.  After the photo session, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the SAC Chairman Prime Minister and honourary patrons Daw Khin Thet Htay and Daw Than Than Nwe viewed around the documentary photos on the activities of MWAF.

It was followed by the 19th Annual Meeting of MWAF where Nay Pyi Taw/Region/State Women’s Affairs Committees reported on their implementations during 2-year. The meeting will be held two days on 16th and 17th January.
