18 million people in Sudan face acute food insecurity

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, almost 18 million people in Sudan are facing acute food insecurity.

Director of the FAO’s Office of Emergencies and Resilience briefed on the food insecurity situation in Sudan on Tuesday in New York,stressing that safe and sustained humanitarian access must urgently be restored to all in need of lifesaving assistance and where farmers can access to land and inputs.

He also added that as the beginning of the 2024 cropping season nears, time-sensitive, life-saving agricultural assistance is crucial to tackle the hunger crisis.
