Tropical Storm Kristine struck the Philippines last week, causing massive flooding, landslides, and destruction along its path, affecting more than half a million families. A total of 160 cities and towns have declared a state of calamity to access additional disaster funds and freeze the prices of basic goods. 116 reported deaths, 109 injuries, and 39 missing people due to the storm.

Almost a million people were displaced by storm Kristine, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. Kristine is the deadliest storm to hit the Philippines so far this year, said the Office of Civil Defense, which oversees disaster management.
