14th plenary meeting: State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee meets

The first-day session of the 14th plenary meeting of the 8th 47-member State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee was organized at the ThiriMingalaKaba Aye Hill in Yangon Monday.

The meeting was attended by members of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee led by Secretary of the Committee Thanlyin Min KyaungPahtamaPyan monastery Presiding Sayadaw Dr BhaddantaSandimaBhivamsa, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko, the director-general of Religious Affairs Department and departmental officials.

State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Secretary Dr BhaddantaSandimaBhivamsa presided over the meeting and the Joint Secretary Sayadaw acted as the master of ceremonies.

The State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Secretary Sayadaw recited SaraniyaOvada Gatha to start the meeting. Then, Union Minister U Ko Ko presented matters related to religious affairs.

Then, the Joint Secretary Sayadaw reported on the activities of the third sub-committee of the eighth Sangha Maha Nayaka conducted during the assigned period and member Sayadaws also presented from respective sectors.

During the 2nd session, religious and vinicchaya affairs were reported and member sayadaws discussed religious matters and the 1st day session adjourned.
