147th Anniversary: Dy PM attends celebration of Myanma Railways

The 147th Anniversary of the Myanma Railways under the Ministry of Transport and Communications took place on Saturday in Nay Pyi Taw.
Member of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister General Mya Tun Oo and many other high-ranking officials and staff attended the anniversary celebration which began with a speech by the Union Minister and continued with screening a video showcasing the works within the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
And, awards were presented to the outstanding officers and staff for their outstanding performance. It’s learnt that Myanmar started running the first railway line on the 1st of May 1877 on the 161-mile Yangon-Pyay section.
During the 147-year journey of the Myanma Railways, various systems have changed, but the railway service still meets the country's requirements for transport.
