11th CLMV Summit: SAC Chairman addresses the summit

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the 11th Cambodia - Lao PDR – Myanmar - Viet Nam (CLMV)  Summit at Wyndham Grand Hotel in Kunming of China on 7th November.

The Summit was also attended by Cambodian Prime Minister Mr. Hun Manet, Laotian Prime Minister Mr. SonexaySiphandone, Vietnamese Prime Minister Mr. Pham Minh Chich, ASEAN Secretariat Dr. Kao Kim Hourn as well as the ministers and high-ranking officials from member states.

In his opening remark, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in his capacity as the Summit Chair expressed his appreciation to lead the summit as the Alternate Chairman.

He said 2024 marks the 20th Anniversary of CLMV cooperation, and during 20 years of journey, CLMV has achieved significant milestones in 8 major sectors. Moreover, the CLMV Framework for Development was adopted, aiming to attain the middle-income goal by 2030. He added that today summit is held under the theme “Friendship and Solidarity for a Resilient and Prosperous Community” aiming to implement CLMV Framework more effectively.

Next, the Prime Ministers of Cambodia, Lao PDR and Viet Nam and the ASEAN Secretariat made discussions on CLMV cooperation and exchanged views on future orientations and current development process. During the summit, the Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister stressed that Myanmar is leading the agriculture, Industry and energy sector cooperation. He emphasized the crucial role of infrastructure development and technology enhancement in implementing the regional development, and added that CLMV Framework for Development and Implementation plan of CLMV Framework for Development were adopted under the CLMV cooperation.

The Prime Minister expressed his aspirations that the implementation plan will lead to achieve CLMV’s 2030 goal, enhancing trade and cooperation activities among CLMV countries. He also assured that Myanmar will emphasize on shaping resilient and prosperous community by joining hands with member states and international countries while promoting regional integration by narrowing development gaps between member states.

Then, the Prime Ministers made discussions on statements of the CLMV summit and adopted them. In his closing remarks, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing expressed his gratitude for the active participation and support of the member states during the summit and encouraged the attendees to accelerate the CLMV mechanism within the framework.

The Chairman of the State Administration Council later handed over the CLMV chairmanship to the Vietnamese Prime Minster who later explained the acceptance of the CLMV Alternate Chair.
