28 October 2018

The first inter university robotics competition ‘Clash of Robots’ took place on Sunday at the Conference Hall of MICT Park.

The ‘Clash of Robots’ was jointly organized by the Myanmar Computer Professionals Association (MCPA), WYTU Students’ Union and WYTU Science & Research Club. The total of 19 teams comprised of students aged between 16 and 20 from public and private universities, colleges and degree colleges battled against each other. The maximum number of people per team is 5 including designer, programmer and controller - each team is allowed to have a mentor.

President, WYTU Students’ Union, Min Khant Maung Maung said “The technical support and trainings will be provided for the winners so that they can participate in bigger contests. This can be considered as a Yangon regional level contest. In coming year, we have plans to organize another one in Mandalay depending on the results of this contest and eagerness. Most people say that robots aren’t useful in real world. The competition wasn’t held to prove their usefulness but it aims to bring out innovative ideas for technology sector.”

The competition aims to gather all students who are interested in Science and Technology for innovation and practical application of creative ideas. The competition included 3 sub categories - Race Around Obstacles, Sumo Fight and Pick Up The Things.

3rd Year Student, West Yangon Technological University, Wai Yan Aung said “I’m the leader of TeamSmart. We’d compete in all three categories but our robot isn’t capable enough for Pick Up The Things. It is FalcoRobot and it took us about 10 days to create it. I’m the controller.”

Winners were chosen from each category besides Best Design Award and People Choice Award.
