MYPOD Project: By Danida Market Development Partnerships Fund

To improve work environment of Myanmar’s garment sector, MYPOD project was launched in Yangon on Wednesday.

It aims to generate more decent jobs, sustainable increased value addition and participation in garment sector through improved work environment, productivity and social dialogue.

It is funded by the Danida Market Development Partnerships fund and carried out in collaboration between the partners; the Danish Ethical Trading Initiative, BESTSELLER, the Ethical Trading Initiative UK, the Danish trade union federation, 3F and Aalborg University.

The local stakeholders in this project are SMART Myanmar, Yangon Technological University and local trade unions, IWFM and MICS.

Director, Danish Ethical Trading Initiative, Mette Boye said “The project will take place in 12 supplier factories, to western brands, this supplier factories supply to BESTSELLER, big Danish company. Via trainings and lean and methodology at the production lines out in the factories. We will get the resource that we can gather together, in the model, showing that this is something that can be done. Hopefully in other factories as well.”

MYPOD project is a three-year project from 2017 and 2020.
