Dense smog continues to linger over Beijing

Beijing residents continued to struggle with lingering smog on Friday as the second highest orange alert on air quality remained for the fourth day.  As of 11 a.m. , Beijing's Environmental Protection Monitoring Centre reported the city's average AQI have reached 250, a level deemed "very unhealthy" on most scales. Some residents in the capital complained of sickness brought by the pollution.  Some residents made plans to go away during the upcoming Chinese New Year holiday to escape smog. The Ministry of Environmental Protection said it hadn't issued a smog red alert, the highest warning.
