State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi mentioned that the way in which the people Myanmar have been quick to grasp the new opportunities is one of her satisfaction after taking the office two years ago.
She also stressed that people have more confident than ever including the civil servants.
State Counsellor, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, H.E. Aung San Suu Kyi said “I think over the last two years, we have started seen changing in them (civil servant), I’m not just talking about corruption. It’s also about the fact that they feel more confident. And they feel that they can take initiative much more. And that they will be listened too. And that they are part of the whole endeavours. So, I suppose our people have greater confident in themselves.”
She also added that the young generations are very innovative and urged the entrepreneurs to make investment in education and research works.
State Counsellor, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, H.E. Aung San Suu Kyi said “Our young people are very creative and innovative in spite of the fact that we have a very poor education system and we have put hardly next to nothing into research. While we are about it I’d like to invite entrepreneurs to invest in our young people, to invest in research in Myanmar.”
Apart from education sector, the State Counsellor also stressed that Myanmar welcomed the investment in agriculture sector which was relied by 70% of the country’s population.
State Counsellor, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, H.E. Aung San Suu Kyi said “Myanmar is still predominant in agricultural country. As you know about 70% of our people living in the rural area…. We have so much potential in agriculture sector. And people talk a lot about the important of food security over the coming years. I’d like to think that our country could become what they call an agro-based industrialized nation like for example New Zealand.”
The remarks were made during her conversation session with the President and Managing Board Member of the World Economic Forum Borge Brende, which was held as the sideline event of the forum in Hanoi of Vietnam on Thursday.
