China ice festival kicks off in Harbin
The Grand World of Ice and Snow festival kicked off on Thursday in Harbin, one of the coldest cities in China, with a spectacular display of ice sculptures. This year's festival, themed "Pearl on the Crown of Ice and Snow - Harbin". It is organized by China National Tourism Administration and local governments, runs till mid-February. It is expected to attract tourists from China and around the world. Visitors flocked to the city to enjoy snow sculptures, ice slides and watch a swimming competition. Organisers say the festival, which is open for 60 days and boasts a variety of snow and ice-related activities, draws several million tourists from across the country and internationally each year.
