ASEAN Makerthon 2017: Myanmar Team Wins 1st Runner-Up

Myanmar Team winning 1st Runner-up at ASEAN Makerthon 2017 arrived back at Yangon International Airport on Tuesday.

Two local teams, ExtremeLab and Team UIT-ES competed at the event during which, participants built physical prototypes in line with the theme “Internet of Things”, within a specific amount of time.

UIT-ES comprised of students from University of Information Technology won 1st Runner-up.

Team UIT-ES, Pyae Phyo Paing said “We chose to create the things under the title smart city which is very suitable with our country’s situation. We got a lot of experience from the competition. In fact, we didn’t even have enough time to prepare.”

Myanmar Computer Federation has plans to organize Makerthon, Joint Secretary said.

Joint Secretary, Myanmar Computer Federation, Aye Aye Thin said “It’s to improve students’ ability in innovation. Through Makerthon, outstanding youths who can join in not only ASEAN level but ASIA Pacific level competitions also will turn out.”

A Chinese team was the winner at the event taking place from the 8th to the 10th of September at the myMaker IoT Lab in the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Malaysia headquarters in Cyberjaya of Selangor.
