ASEAN-CANADA Summit: Canada To Work With Governments Of Myanmar And Bangladesh

ASEAN leaders including State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held the ASEAN-Canada 40th Anniversary Commemorative Summit on Tuesday. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Canada is ready to help to resolve the situation in Myanmar’s Rakhine State during the summit at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila.

CANADIAN PRIME MINISTER, JUSTIN TRUDEAU said "In light of events in Myanmar's Rakhine State, I've named a special envoy to the region.” … “Canada will continue to support ASEAN's humanitarian political efforts to find a sustainable and just solution to the ongoing crises, we will also continue to work with the governments of Myanmar and Bangladesh to allow for the safe return of displaced peoples."

Leaders of the ASEAN 10 Member States, including ASEAN Secretary General discussed and reviewed ASEAN-Canada cooperation and its future direction during the Summit.
